How to play. Press play and wait for the tape to load, as you would have had to, or press QUICK LOAD to skip the wait. Choose an opponent with 1 to 4 (they have been matched for ability). You are the pocket: hold O and P, or the cursor keys, to move it. Balls fall down the table in waves, and each wave is one shot. Pot a red, then any colour, then a red again; when the reds are gone, the colours go in order, yellow to black. Catch the wrong ball, or the white, and it is a foul. Pot more than one ball in a shot for a plant. C chalks the cue, R uses the rest (a wider pocket, but slower), B is for viewers in black and white, and M turns the sound off and on.
Click the screen and use your own keyboard, or press the keys on the Spectrum keyboard under it, which press them for you (hold one down to hold the key). GAME KEYS shows just the keys the game uses, big enough for thumbs; FULL shows the whole 48K keyboard with the game's keys lit; HIDE puts it away.
CHAMPIONSHIP SNOOKER '84 was written by Mr O J Woods, in C for the 48K ZX Spectrum, and runs here in an emulator. The tape (snooker.tap) is a normal Spectrum tape: a BASIC loader, a loading screen and the game. It loads on real hardware too.
